A week or two ago I wrote up a brief synopsis of this UN/WTBTS situation (including both the addresses for the DPI requirements and the original thread on the subject here on the board) and gave it to the main man. (I'll post it on the board if anyone's interested.)

I'd be very interested in your summary, and what you have prepared as a news release.

I have read some exjws' comments that being an NGO isn't near as significant as their hasty redrawal after it was exposed, but still the whole issue really sticks in my craw. I just want to organize what I have read here and make sure I have all the terminoligy correct before I do anything with it.

Any help you can give too will be much appreciated.

I sign myself as "Had Enough" but really, I've had "more than" enough of the WTS and want to see them exposed but want to do so in a way that doesn't jeopardize my relationship with my still-active family.

I too had to sit and listen to a relative tearfully recounting the "experience" as was told to them by one of the Brooklyn Bethel, at the "Special Meeting" they were so privileged to be invited to.

It was all I could do to hold my supper down.

I also heard of a young pioneer who was visiting Brooklyn Bethel at that time and took pictures. His pictures and his story were published in his local newspaper and he said the WatchTower donated what they could and then despite the trying conditions, work resumed. He told me he didn't know however what exactly was donated.

I've been wondering for quite some time now:

Isn't there anyone that knows the real truth or has sources that could tell us or find out what the WTS really did after the horrible crashes on Sept 11?

We know they locked their doors right away, but we hear little snippets of how they fed and housed many firemen and gave refreshments to many "who wandered in" etc.

I, and I'm sure many others, would really like to know the truth of just how much or how little the WTS really did. Btw...I remember Ozzie posting that a large newspaper printed the names of the those organization that helped out and WTS was not included.

If they did help right away like so many other organizations did, then fine, I can accept that and give them credit for it, BUT if they are spinning false stories, I really want to know that.

Please.....does anybody know any real facts?????

as of 6:02 pm last night i received a facsimile from paul hoeffel at the un on the wts.. he gave me 3 of the 4 things i requested in two paragraphs.. i have sent a scanned version to steve bates and someone else.. i sent it to kent and randy.

and kent and randy have posted the official united nations letter on their web sites.. here is the letter - put your cursor on the image and then right click on your mouse and hit "save image" to your computer.. .

after you look at kent's web site and you people still think this it is a fake letter, phone paul hoeffel yourself at (212) 963-8070.. hawk

All NGOs that are associates with DPI must, every year, complete an "annual accreditation form".

I'm glad this info has been made known to us.

It just further proves that the WTS had to know of its position with regards to the UN since they had to fill out this form EACH year. It cannot be said by any JW that the WTS didn't know, or the application is a forgery.

my wife and i met with 3 elders for a "judicial hearing".. our crime: simply put, was talking.

i showed a friend the un website where the wts was listed as an ngo which then led to a 2 hour discussion of various doubts that we both have had.

my wife also showed a friend the un thing but also discussed with her a first hand account of a pedophile cover-up that we knew about in our former congregation.

My heart goes out to you both for having to go through this perfect example of braindead stupidity on the elders part. I am so glad though that you are not crushed and downtrodden, but are seeing this for what it is.....the real truth.

The elders have seen this kind of treatment work for years in "keeping the flock in line", but I can see a trend taking place in people that is going to cause this all to backfire badly for them....great for us and for the pursuit of exposing the truth.

I do feel for you though, in having to be discreet because of family still "in bondage". I know how frustrating it can be to have to keep quiet and not speak out when inside you're screaming. I'm right in the same boat with you.

Somehow though, little by little, the truth is going to reach more and more of the r&f because we are not going to continue to let the WTS get away with all that they have in the past. The past is winding up to smack them right in the face.

I'm glad you are here and have shared your story with us. Not only will you get help here for yourselves, but you are helping so many others here to bolster their conviction that their decision to leave was the only right one. It adds to my "ammunition" which is helping my friends to open their eyes.

I've been following this thread for a week now and each time I started reading I kept thinking the same thing...of how impressed I am with how this thread was developing.

I just wanted to say a personal thanks for all the hard work you did to provide this information for us all and to everyone searching out the websites, creating letters, contacting the UN and guiding all of us. Everyone was so careful to get the exact wording right, so there can be no excuses to get around this one. No one can point the finger and say it was a lie. This is a biggie!!! If anything can do damage to the WTS, this can.

Its almost sad that lives ruined through pedophilia, and lives lost through a ban on blood transfusions won't budge many diehard JWs, but seeing the WTS hold hands with the UN will affect some to the point of leaving. Strange isn't it? But....whatever works to start opening a few more eyes...the better.

Thank you again MacHislopp for how you handled this whole thread with such gracious acknowledgement of everyone's contribution. What a tribute to your humility.

I have read every post even though I haven't had the time to do anything concrete with it yet. I have it saved so hopefully I can use it with my still active JW family.

I am so happy to say though that this was the last straw for my dearest friend who was still holding onto the hope that God will step in to straighten out all the things she had already been learning about the WTS. Once she heard this, her faith that this is God's organization is gone.

So, here's to you and everyone who contributed to the exposure of this farce. Kudo's on a job well done.

Hey There ! All You Disfellowshipped Ones!

is your anger with the jw religion due mainly to the fact that you have been df'd?

is it possible that persons who post here who are not disfellowshipped can feel as angry as those who are being shunned and who are therefore being effectively gagged?.

is the df'ing policy of the wtbts the main reason that ex-jw's seem to go all out to get other witnesses out of the org?

Yes Englishman, I believe you would be a friend in a crisis.

You and I and so many, many others here share a passion for wanting to see justice done to the multitudes of ones suffering emotionally and physically at the hands of those who abuse their power.

That's what impresses me so much with this board the majority of the time. So many come here not so much to heal any longer, but to help others going through tough times and others who even through their own hurt, will jump in to help someone in pain.

I have met some wonderful people here who are so intune with others' pain, they take the time to try and say something concrete to help... something other than, "read the Bible more, go to meetings more, go out in service more, pray more" or even just to say "I understand" goes such a long way.

Welcome to garybuss...very astute observations of the WTS and its effect on people.

Welcome also to tyydyy...I'm sorry your family too is affected by the WTS misapplication of scriptures. We always prided ourselves on supposedly not taking scriptures out of context but blindly allow the WTS to continually do that very thing. I hope you and we all can find a way to reach our families.

To Kophagangelos...welcome to our discussion board. I am positive you will find the answers you are seeking right here on this board. There are many sincere people here who work hard looking for facts to prove the errors of the Watchtower Society.
